Specific Issues for Discussion |
PAPAD is an annotation tool built on the premise that audio-based media is the most accessible to a majority of people with low-levels of textual literacy. It also acts on the fact that traditionally knowledge has been passed down through generations in the form of stories that got renarrated, annotated, contextualised and made sense of.
Papad aims to become a place of archival, annotation through community based activities. And over a while start to reveal patterns and insights. The listenings that will happen are fragments of larger listenings and might range anywhere from pre-insight to consequence. The project is open-source and meant to allow for community management of their own knowledge, protected by the rules that they would want to put in place. |
Describe the Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF |
Inclusion of people who are marginalised by literary is the next hard nut to crack. Papad aims to bring the issues of larger inclusion to the fore as Internet can bring the next 5 billion to be online where most of them are not comfortable with text but are comfortable in expressing themselves in spoken and local language. |
