Part 2 - Session Proposal
Session Title
Hyperconnectivity and Isolation of the Internet : individuals isolated from the sleepless network
Session Format
Panel Discussion
Where do you plan to organize your session?
Onsite at the venue (with online moderator for questions and comments from remote participants)
Specific Issues for Discussion
24 hours a day that hit the Internet network is one we're trying to bring together all around the world over the country into one. Internet news, each application, each species based on barter through the local people who live on the other side of the world from the Community and sns makes a platonic relationship. But the roots lie in the premiere of the Internet connects people just to stop to make? Wouldn't the Internet, which looks like a link, work not as a link in that it doesn't fall asleep, but as a CCTV that keeps watching and monitoring us? Also, why is this hyperconnectivity of the Internet saying that while it seems to connect us like a thread, people in it want more attention and need care?

- Key Issue 1: How is our daily life recorded on the Internet 24 hours a day due to the characteristics of the Internet that users do not turn off?
- Key issue 2: How does the tight hyperconnectivity of the Internet paradoxically further isolate individuals?
Describe the Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF
This workshop aims to examine the surveillance aspects caused by the nature of the Internet that does not sleep, that is, cannot be turned off/not turned off, and the sense of isolation paradoxically occurring in a tight Internet network. In the case of monitoring, I would like to look into how the market monitors through the Internet, focusing on the labor process for delivery workers working in delivery applications.
And as an issue of isolation, I would like to find out about the Internet phenomenon that paradoxically becomes isolated due to the flow of emotion regarding people's excessive interest and recognition, comparison with others, and tooled technology. This is intended to be examined closely through the technology recently instrumented in AI artificial intelligence services.
Therefore, this workshop is intended to consist of stakeholders from various angles to hear the theoretical (academic) and field (civil society) stories and specific examples used in market areas to approach the Internet at a governance level as well as its fundamental technical features.

Please explain the rationale for choosing each of the above contributors to the session.
The first speaker Park Soo-min is a graduate student of Yonsei University's Department of Sociology. She is also a member of the Delivery Workers' Union. She is preparing her Ph.D. thesis on the labor process of delivery platform workers. So you can learn more about how delivery applications are monitoring workers over the Internet. Through her research papers and civic group activities, she can learn the governance perspective that can connect theory and field.

The second speaker, Lee Hee-eun, is a professor of newspaper and broadcasting at Chosun University. She has published a number of papers on surveillance society, algorithms, and digital media environment. Recently, she translated Mark Andrejevic's ⟪Automated Media⟫. Through her presentation, we can hear whether hyper-connectedness through the Internet paradoxically creates a sense of isolation.
