Part 2 - Session Proposal
Session Title
How to protect consumers in the NFT market, the core of the Metaverse era
Session Format
Panel Discussion
Where do you plan to organize your session?
Onsite at the venue (with online moderator for questions and comments from remote participants)
Specific Issues for Discussion
1. How does the legal system in the Asia-Pacific region interpret NFT investment and virtual goods transaction using NFT technology? How is it compared to other regions?
2. Can consumers who trade unique goods using NFT technology within the current legal system receive adequate protection? If not, is there a legislative direction or a legal adjustment direction that can solve this problem?
3. What kind of framework should the NFT trading market have so that consumers can obtain appropriate information and consume goods correctly?
Describe the Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF
NFT is a technology created to indicate originality and ownership by putting pictures and videos in an irreplaceable token made of blockchain. Platforms(like Media, SNS, Youtube) give consumers the impression that they need to prepare something around the ‘NFT’ in the upcoming ‘Metaverse’ era. In addition, platforms actively promote celebrities' NFT-related consumption and businesses, exposing NFT technology to consumers like groundbreaking technology. However, compared to this NFT trend, concerns about regulatory positions or rights relations are rarely revealed to consumers.
Without stakeholders discussing copyright or how to guarantee the concept of original proof, if consumers trade virtual products through NFT, it could cause confusion not only to individuals but also to the market in the future. In addition, NFT transactions in the future may decrease in credit worthiness in the new Internet market as the NFT transaction system is not stably established worldwide and technology instability is pointed out. Therefore, it is necessary to consider legal problems and transaction directions through NFT technology as soon as possible.
The session will also be a forum to discuss how the Asia-Pacific region judges and regulates the impact of the NFT compared to the United States and the EU.. In this session, we will discuss topics with a variety of stakeholders, focusing on the impact on consumers rather than the technology itself. If appropriate regulatory measures and legal standards are discussed through governance consultations to prevent consumers from entering incomplete markets, future confusion will be blocked in advance. The session will also allow the Asia-Pacific Group to take the lead in global discussions on the NFT.

Please explain the rationale for choosing each of the above contributors to the session.
Mr. Xiaobo YANG worked at the Cyber Security Association of China as the Head of International and Research Affairs, as well as the Director of HAC Coordinator's Office of World Internet Conference. And, He holds a master's degree in Cyber Law Internet Governance (BUPT). Therefore, from an international standpoint, it will be possible to tell us legal knowledge related to the NFT.

Mr. Santosh Sigdel is human rights lawyer from Nepal, who has been working on issue of internet freedom and digital rights. And he founded Digital Rights Nepal, a non-profit initiative, for the promotion and protection of digital rights. He will tell us about consumer protection and legal improvements in Internet transactions from the standpoint of lawyers.

Mr. Allen P ALEX is an advocate and a post-graduate in law specializing in International Trade Law currently working as a Legal Associate at TPM Consultants, New Delhi. And He is particularly fascinated about Right to Privacy and Freedom of Expression, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, and AI. So he will tell us about the future of the NFT system as a civil society and a juridical perspective.

Mr. Jaeyeong Lee will present the session agenda as a session proposer. I will not participate in the discussion, but I will explain the agenda intention and issues to the panel and audience to ensure that it is the right debate.
If you need assistance to find a suitable speaker to contribute to your session, or an onsite facilitator for your online-only session, please specify your request with details of what you are looking for.
I was not able to recruit appropriate speakers because I first proposed a session to APrIGF. Therefore, I ask APrIGF to offer speakers and Moderators. Except for the proposer, the rest of the panel selected a member of APrIGF who could make an appropriate presentation. I ask to recruit the three speakers or people of interest selected by the proposer. In addition, the host also requests the recruitment of female main Moderator for the participation of various genders.
