Describe the Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF
Even though 64% of internet users in the world reside in Asia, there are still more users that needs to be connected. It is therefore imperative that the Internet remains open, free and secure for all. However, we are witnessing an exponential rise in cyberbullying especially among children (who are one of the largest internet users) and women. The presence of internet everywhere-at workplaces, schools and colleges has given more power to the perpetrator to harass a peer or co-worker, known associate or classmates without getting identified. Many a time such incidents go unreported. Incidents like cyberbullying not only affect the victim in many ways but also erodes the element of trust over the Internet. It is therefore important that the topic of cyberbullying be discussed in the context of what needs to be done and the role that different stakeholders can play.
