| This session will highlight the lived experiences, actions, and creative approaches of children and youth leaders in Southeast Asia and South Asia in tackling sexual exploitation of children (SEC), both online and offline. It will showcase how young people from the Down to Zero (DtZ) “Step Up the Fight Against Sexual Exploitation of Children” (SUFASEC) project are using interactive tools, peer education, community-based strategies, and youth-led advocacy to build safer digital and physical environments for themselves and their peers. With increasing access to smartphones and the internet in the region, children are often online with limited adult supervision, exposing them to various risks including grooming, sextortion, misinformation, and sexual exploitation. The session will present how youth have responded to these challenges by developing peer-led learning tools, safe reporting platforms, and youth-friendly awareness campaigns. Issues and Topics to Be Discussed: 1. Children's Digital Access and Risk Exposure 2. Youth-Led Digital Literacy and Critical Thinking Tools 3. Designing Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Communication 4. Education on Reporting Mechanisms and Support Systems 5. Community-Based Protection and Peer Networks Themes Covered: • Online child protection and digital safety • Peer-led and community-based reporting mechanisms • Child and youth participation in combating SEC • Social and behavior change through youth-designed communication • Strengthening local child protection systems through youth collaboration This session will demonstrate how children and youth, when meaningfully engaged, can lead powerful, creative, and culturally relevant solutions to tackle sexual exploitation and promote online safety. Through games, campaigns, digital tools, and peer education, these young leaders are proving that protection efforts are strongest when children are not just protected—but are also empowered as protectors of themselves. |

| Describe the Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF | |||||||||||
| Relevance of Your Session to APrIGF 2025. This session, Youth-Led Innovations to Prevent and Report Online and Offline Sexual Exploitation of Children, is closely aligned with Track 1: Security & Trust as its primary theme, and Track 5: Access & Inclusion as its secondary track. It directly supports the APrIGF 2025 overarching theme, “The Future of Multistakeholder Digital Governance in Asia-Pacific,” by demonstrating how meaningful child and youth participation can improve digital security, build trust, and close gaps in inclusive governance. The session primarily aligns with Track 1: Security & Trust, as it centers on how youth are innovating practical, culturally grounded solutions to combat online sexual exploitation—a growing digital security threat across the region. These youth champions are not only educating their peers on digital safety but also building trust-based systems within their communities and holding duty-bearers accountable. Their work shows how trust can be rebuilt in digital platforms, education systems, and local protection networks when youth are empowered to lead. Secondarily, it supports Track 5: Access & Inclusion, by amplifying the voices of children and youth from marginalized communities—such as fishing villages, labor settlements, and low-income urban areas—who are often excluded from digital governance dialogues. These young leaders are creating peer-to-peer pathways to access protection, information, and reporting systems, filling the gaps where formal services fall short. Their efforts demonstrate that inclusion goes beyond connectivity—it means agency, participation, and visibility in the digital policymaking space. By aligning strongly with both Security & Trust and Access & Inclusion, and by bringing youth-led models into the center of the multistakeholder dialogue, this session will be a vital contribution to the APrIGF 2025 agenda and to shaping a safer, more inclusive digital future in the Asia-Pacific region. |

| Please explain the rationale for choosing each of the above contributors to the session. | |||||||||||
| Each youth speaker brings lived experience and proven leadership in tackling online and offline child sexual exploitation in their communities. From the Philippines, a youth leader introduces an interactive game teaching digital safety to peers with limited internet access. In Indonesia, a young advocate co-created viral SBC videos and influenced national policy on digital platforms. A Thai youth educator collaborates with schools and child protection services to improve reporting and support systems. From Bangladesh, a grassroots leader empowers peers through backyard meetings and a youth-run WhatsApp group for safe disclosure. Together, they represent powerful, scalable, and inclusive solutions that align with APrIGF’s vision for secure, trusted, and participatory digital governance. These four youth contributors were selected not only for their diverse geographic representation but also for their clear impact, innovative, and leadership in advancing child protection and digital safe | |||||||||||
